Community Poll

"In every community, there is work to be done.  In every nation, there are wounds to heal.  In every heart, there is the power to do it."  Marianne Williamson

"Volunteers polish up the rough spots in our communities."  Jefferson Award Winner Alice Sandstrom

"You are the only person on this earth who can use your ability."   Anonymous

"Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand." Chinese Proverb

The Spiral Grove is a volunteer-run community organization and we need volunteers to be part of this very exciting time in the Grove; we need people to help tend to the seedlings we have planted with the collective goals and visions of the community. Together we can grow anything we want and help it to grow strong.

Consider joining a committee or lending a hand in some way. A donation doesn't have to be monetary to have a lot of value!

Volunteering in the Grove offers a rich opportunity to learn how to work with others in a co-creative community and learning skills while implementing ideas and maintaining the facets of the Spiral Grove. Through volunteering you will discover heartfelt support, friendly people, and the true value of being a community member.

And let's be honest--it's fun to be with friendly and creative people!

Please help. We need assistance with the following:

The Grove needs volunteers to help with the annual Witches Faire that takes place in October near Halloween. This is our big annual event and we are excited to see new folks and work with your creative ideas. We offer this open-to-the-public event each year as a way to reach out to people of all paths and provide an open-minded atmosphere for them to enjoy networking with others, debunk myths about alternate religions, eat, dance, learn, shop, and celebrate in safe space together. And, if anyone needs food or household items, we collect and distribute a multitude of donations on our Give-Away blanket. We need to begin event planning now. If you can help us with this fun and magical Grove tradition and event please don’t hesitate to contact us: the_spiral_grove@yahoo.com

The Grove needs help on the following committees:

Policy and Procedure (P&P)

Education

Fundraising

Membership

Visioning and Manifestation (V&M)

We also need resopnsible adults to help out chaperoning and organizing field trips and other Youth Group events.

We know many people out there have skills that could benefit the community. Please consider helping out on a committee this year.

The Grove needs help organizing and implementing youth activities, youth circles, as well as childcare at our open events and rituals. Parents and caretakers, we want your creative input. We see the youth of our community as our future and stewards of this earth. Help us provide more educational opportunities about spirituality and the world around us.

The Grove needs help with grant writing. Grants can help us obtain the larger goals and visions of our community and help us with offering more outreach services, educational opportunities, land for a community center, and more. If you have experience with grant writing, please contact us.

"To Be Of Use" by Marge Piercy
(a poem piece on volunteerism)

The people I love the best jump into work head first without dallying in the shadows and swim off with sure strokes almost out of sight. They seem to become natives of that element, the black sleek heads of seals bouncing like half-submerged balls.

I love people who harness themselves, an ox to a heavy cart, who pull like water buffalo, with massive patience, who strain in the mud and the muck to move things forward, who do what has to be done, again and again.

I want to be with people who submerge in the task, who go into the fields to harvest and work in a row and pass the bags along, who stand in the line and haul in their places, who are not parlor generals and field deserters but move in a common rhythm when the food must come in or the fire be put out.

The work of the world is common as mud. Botched, it smears the hands, crumbles to dust. But the thing worth doing, well done, has a shape that satisfies, clean and evident.

Greek amphoras for wine or oil, Hopi vases that held corn are put in museums, but you know they were made to be used. The pitcher cries for water to carry and a person for work that is real.

"Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love..."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
